Fourteen students participated in the 2021 Archaeology Field School in late May and early June. The three week session took place at the multicomponent Bull Mills site located in the valley of Bull Creek in Christian County. This site was inhabited for several thousand years by prehistoric Native Americans. It was also the site of a middle 19th century homestead, mill, and cemetery, as well as a temporary Civil War encampment. Students received training in archaeological field methods of survey, mapping, and excavation, and basic laboratory analysis. Students also learned how archaeologists preserve and interpret archaeological materials.
