Dr. Julia Troche, History, was named a recipient of the 2022 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Gov. Mike Parson and members of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education will recognize Dr. Troche and others for their achievements.
The Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching is presented to an outstanding faculty member from each participating higher education institution in the state. The awards, which are not monetary, are based on effective teaching, effective advising, service to the university community, commitment to high standards of excellence and success in nurturing student achievement.
Dr. Troche is an Egyptologist. Her primary areas of interest include ancient Egyptian social history and religion, but she also conducts research on the histories of the ancient Near East and the Classical world. She has worked as an excavator, field surveyor and epigrapher at Abydos and Luxor in Egypt, and at Petra, Jordan.
