Day – To – Day Routine:
“On a typical day I would start off in the office working on paving bids, review progress of current projects and complete job billings, followed by visiting potential customers and evaluating their paving needs. Every day is different than the last as projects come down the line and the paving season progresses.”
Current Projects:
Jeffrey is currently working on several projects across Missouri. These projects entail, “working with municipalities, bidding on their upcoming paving work, assisting them in putting together their paving plans and budgets for the upcoming year.” In addition, he is locally impacting Central, MO through bidding on commercial paving and new construction projects.
Learning on the Job:
“Communicate openly and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Be sure to listen closely to the ideas that your co-workers and others who you are working with say, be open minded, many times you will take away some valuable knowledge to use in the future. Build relationships, this industry is really a small world and you will likely be working with many of the same people throughout your career.”
Advice Worth Passing On:
“As you are nearing graduation and entering the work force have an open mind, you don’t have to go to work for one of the ENR Top 400 contractors to be successful and have a rewarding career.”
“Your work ethic will be your most important skill out of college. Companies will give you the tools and knowledge that you need to grow but they can’t give you the work ethic. You are the only one who can provide that.”
“The best advice I have been given is this, “A job worth doing is worth doing well,” no matter what project or task you are working on, if you take this approach it will be rewarded.”
