ALEX NANNA
PROJECT COORDINATOR
FROM: Columbia, IL
THEN: Bachelor of Science in Construction Management – December 2016
NOW: Project Coordinator at Foreman Fabricators in St. Louis, Missouri.
DAY-TO-DAY:
A major part of Alex’s day includes communicating with different customers/vendors. As well as coordinating schedules and disseminating status/pricing information for current projects and quoting new jobs.
CURRENT PROJECTS:
- Designing/supplying St. Anthony’s Behavioral Health Center with stainless steel plumbing covers to cut patients off from accessing the pipes
- Supplying glass balcony railings for a new ADB Building in St. Louis, MO
- Providing various pieces of cladding and ornamental metal for the renovations in the Enterprise Center
LEARNING ON THE JOB:
“Staying on top of deadlines is very important. If something falls behind, it can push multiple things back on a project. Sometimes, things do not go as planned and you have to make adjustments but that is part of managing the project.”
ADIVCE WORTH PASSING ON:
“Get a good grip on what your project entails and prioritize things that need to happen first and what can wait. This will help keep things organized and on time down the road. When starting a new job, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Even though you may think you are bothering a coworker, it will help you understand your current situation and excel in your career. Most likely they have been in that position at some point in their career and can offer you advice. Everyone is going to make mistakes, but the important part is learning from it, and not letting it happen again.”
