SAMANTHA FALK
DESIGNER
FROM: Pleasant Hope, Missouri
THEN: Bachelors of Interior Design, Minor in Construction Management – May 2018
NOW: Grooms Office Environments in Springfield, Missouri
GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT & CAREER PATH:
Samanthas career path began with an internship during her sophomore year at Missouri State. After completing her internship with Grooms Office Environments, she transitioned from an intern to a design assistant. Samantha’s hard work and dedication to Grooms continued to lead her to a promotion of a Designer ― six months before graduation. Juggling a full-time job and school was a challenge that Samantha embraced. Her time with Grooms has allowed Samantha to travel and visit Chicago’s NeoCon (3 times), Holland, Michigan, and Montreal, Canada. Samantha states that her accomplishments with Grooms are many, but her greatest is being published by 417 Biz in the August 2018 edition, for an office design.
HOW MSU EQUIPPED SAMANTHA FOR HER CAREER:
Being able to understand and converse with architects and builders about construction documents and electrical plans; Samantha realizes the tangible benefits to her career as an interior designer, “The whole time I was in school I wondered how I would be able to apply my Construction Management minor in real life, and this truly has been the biggest help.”
ADVICE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS AND RECENT GRADUATES:
Samanthas advice, “You do not have to wait until the summer after your junior year to get an internship. My sophomore year I started an internship with Groom which helped tremendously with my learning process and achieving personal goals.”
“The most important thing is that you love what you are doing, and the second that you are not afraid of where your next idea will lead.” ― Charles Eames
