Greatest Accomplishment & Career Path:
Olivia’s career path in interior design began during her time at Missouri State University. Her first position was a design assistant for Gina McMurtrey Interiors, “I loved having the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the field while in school.” The experience and knowledge she’s gained as a design assistant helped with her current position at Cushman & Wakefield, as a project designer. She is currently working on commercial real estate with Edward Jones, “Since being on board with them I have helped design our client’s office spaces that fits their wants and needs.” Olivia states that her greatest professional accomplishment is, “Obtaining a job that I enjoy in the field I’ve studied and admired for years.”
How MSU Equipped Olivia For Her Career:
Olivia recognizes that the interior design major and construction management minor have equipped in her career, “I use my education from MSU every day. Whether it’s drawing floor plans that meet ADA requirements, to sending purchase orders, to sending bid requests, and so much more. I wouldn’t have the job I do today if I didn’t have the education and knowledge I obtained from Missouri State University.”
Advice for Current Students and Recent Graduates:
Get industry experience while you’re in school. It helps you learn more about the field, and it’s a great resume builder!
