Kate enjoys the challenge of working for an architectural firm, “I am an Interior Designer working at an Architectural firm that practices mostly in commercial projects. I would say that my greatest professional accomplishment so far has been getting my job. Most people think that an Interior Designer wouldn’t be able to hold their own in the Architectural/ Construction world, but I do it every day!”
How MSU Equipped Kate For Her Career:
Kate’s time at Missouri State University built a strong foundation for her career path. Kate states, “I spend about 50% of my time writing construction documents; I use the knowledge gained from my minor and major, every day.”
Advice for Current Students and Recent Graduates:
“Do your best to use the resources at hand to learn the fundamentals. However, don’t let that become a box for you; you will have to grow in this field to become a successful professional. Don’t be afraid to step out of your chosen degree niche. I have a degree in Interior Design and Construction Management, and I am working at an Architectural firm. Your degree is not a final destination; it is a platform to help you reach better opportunities in the future.”
