Dr. David Cornelison named department head of physics, astronomy and materials science

DavidCornelison[1]Dr. David Cornelison has been appointed head of the department of physics, astronomy and materials science at Missouri State University. Cornelison will begin his term and duties Aug. 1.

“Dave will bring new eyes and a new perspective to the department and to the college,” said Dr. Tammy Jahnke, dean of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences. “I look forward to working with Dave as he guides and leads an excellent and diverse group of faculty in the department.”

Dr. Cornelison earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Arizona and doctorate degree in physics from Arizona State University. Dr. Cornelison will bring academic and administrative experience from Northern Arizona University where he has been a faculty member since 1990 and has been chair of the department since 2005.

Dr. Cornelison says, “I am excited to come to Missouri State.  The department has a lot to offer, and I am greatly looking forward to working with all the faculty and staff.  The fresh challenges and opportunities for professional growth will be invigorating.”
