Thirteen Missouri State students, primarily from the computer science department, attended the Women in Computing (WIC) Conference in Kansas City Oct. 18-19.
At the MINK WIC Conference (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas), the programming included keynote speakers, workshops, panels and networking activities. Participants learned about transitioning from school into industry and balancing work and life responsibilities. Since the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are often dominated by men, session topics also touched on how to deal with the work environment.
