Dr. Albert Barreda is back in the United States after a summer full of travels. Barreda presented in Taiwan and Peru about his research.
Taiwan
Barreda, assistant professor of hospitality leadership, attended the International Conference on Evolving Trends in Academic and Practical Research. He spoke about the application of the structural equation modeling method in the determination of stock market prices in the U.S. stock markets.
He has started to test a theory-driven model of variable that affect U.S. hotel stock prices. He is using a structural equation modeling method using the Analysis of Moment Structure to test his theory. Few studies have used this method to test determinants of stock prices.
Peru
Barreda was a distinguished speaker at the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL), where he spoke about business research methods in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Missouri State University and USIL expanded their research collaboration to include business simulations in academic environments and how subject focus simulations positively affect student’s knowledge level and self-efficacy.
The collaboration is also investigating brand image and brand equity of Peru. They will analyze how international tourists’ perceptions of Peru compare to other countries in the area.
“International exposure and research collaboration with international scholars have helped me to delineate critical research topics with scholars from prestigious universities in Asia and Latin America for the next two academic years,” Barreda said.
