There’s a rising interest in yeast.
So much so, each year, yeast scientists come across the country to meet at the World Yeast Conference in Montreal, Canada.
Dr. Kyoungtae Kim, associate dean of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, presented not one, but two keynote talks about his research.
About the conference
Kim presented two of this research topics:
- Yeast dynamin plays a key role in the endosome-to-Golgi Traffic
- Functional upregulation of ribosome biogenesis in yeast treated with silver or CdSe/ZnS nanoparticles
Kim found this conference particularly valuable because it is all yeast researchers, like him.

“We shared ideas, solutions, and success stories in our research, Kim said. “I had a great opportunity to interact with people across the world who has dedicated their professional lives to the yeast microbiology.”
