Dr. Christy Hyman, assistant professor of geography at Mississippi State University, will be giving a lecture for Black History Month.
The presentation will take place on Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. in Glass Hall, room 108.
Hyman’s lecture, titled “Contested Space and the Pursuit of Freedom in the Great Dismal Swamp”, will explore the history of geospatial approaches in geography, giving light to how these past conflicts affected slaves during their journeys to freedom.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Any questions can be directed to Dr. Nina Barudzic, director of multicultural programs at Missouri State University.
