CNAS Public Lecture – Turtles in Decline

This presentation will discuss some of the factors that are driving these widespread declines, highlight some of the most critically endangered species around the globe, and explore some of the actions that conservation biologists are taking locally and internationally to stabilize and restore turtle populations. Conservation work conducted on behalf of alligator snapping turtles in the Mississippi River drainage will serve as a case study.

General Education Assessment Training

Those involved with General Education planning and teaching should benefit from attending a session on General Education assessment. For those unable to attend, there will be an online link to a video of the session. In addition, there will be a Showcase on Assessment, including sessions on General Education, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, between 1 and 5 p.m. in the PSU.
MSU Foundation Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service
Nominations for 2012–2013 are being accepted now
The Missouri State University Foundation Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service are intended to provide incentives for continued performance to a select number of full-time faculty who evidence significant accomplishments in teaching, research and/or creative activities and service. The awards are funded by the MSU Foundation.
Six awards are presented annually at the All-Faculty Recognition Reception held in May of each year, and each recipient will receive a $3,600 award.
Faculty members do not need to be nominated to submit application material. Download the 2013 application form. Nominations are due to the Provost Office by December 10, 2012. Application materials will be due in Departmental Offices by January 28, 2013. Please view the 2013 Guidelines for additional information.

December 10 – All nominations for MSU Foundation Awards due today
December 14 – RPT revisions – Deans must notify departments of any recommended revisions by this date
December 14 – Dean must submit promotion/tenure evaluation to candidates by this date.
December 14 – Fall 2012 Commencement
December 17 – Grades are due for the fall 2012 semester.
December 19 – All promotion/tenure materials must be submitted to the provost’s office.
January 10-11 – CNAS Retreats (one day for assessment – all are invited, another for leadership team)
January 14, 2013 – Spring 2013 Classes Begin
January 25, 2013 – RPT revisions – Departments must respond to deans by the date related to revisions
January 28, 2013 – All applications for MSU Foundation awards due today
February 28, 2013 – RPT revisions – Drafts that have been approved by the faculty, Department Heads, and Deans are submitted to the Provost’s Office. Deans include a cover memo outlining their reviews of the drafts and the departmental responses.
