NSF Experience and Upcoming Grant Info
NSF Computer Science Research Experience for Teachers – June 12 to July 21
CNAS Faculty – It’s time to start the NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) internal process. This is the initial call for mini proposals to determine which PI’s will submit full proposals. The rules have changed this year. First to note is the new due date window. (That’s why this notice is earlier than normal.) The new full proposal window is October 16, 2023, through November 15, 2023.
There is also a new Track! We are eligible to submit 3 proposals for tracks 1 and/or 2 with a limit of 1 additional proposal permitted in the newly founded Track 3. (A potential of 4 total proposals if one is for Track 3.) To reiterate, limitations are as follows:
No more than 2 submissions in Track 1
No more than 1 submission in Track 2
No more than 1 submission in Track 3
Track descriptions are as follows:
Track 1: Track 1 MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $100,000 and less than $1,400,000.
Track 2: Track 2 MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $1,400,000 up to and including $4,000,000.
Track 3: Track 3 MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $100,000 and less than or equal to $4,000,000 that include the purchase, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation to conserve or reduce the consumption of helium.
DEADLINES
July 31st – Mini proposals are due. Limit 3 pages. Submit mini proposals to researchadministration@missouristate.edu
These proposals must clearly describe the instrumentation being proposed, the PI’s and co-PIs involved, a cost estimate for the instrument and a cost estimate for installation and annual upkeep for the instrument. If there are room renovations required for the instrument those need to be disclosed in this proposal. The PI must also indicate where the instrument will reside.
August 7th – The ORA will distribute the proposals to Deans Smith, Meinert, Masterson, Jahnke, and Bledsoe for review. Deans will choose the top two by August 14th.
August 15th – ORA will notify all who submitted mini proposals of the final decision.
