CNAS All College Meeting & Other Upcoming Events

August 22 – CNAS College Meeting, 3:30-5:00 PM in Carrington 208 (there will be snacks and beverages)  President Smart and Provost Jasinski will present important information for the coming year.  Then I will share information about CNAS.

Interested in student success?

Inclusive Teaching in STEM – facilitated by Dean Jahnke. Registration is through My Learning Connection located in the Learning and Development card on your MSU profile

Offered this fall – Thursdays at noon starting September 7.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Blood Drive – August 29-31 from 11AM to 5PM in PSU Ballroom East

SWMO Regional Water Conference – Water: Trends that Matter, September 26. Students may attend free! However, they must still RSVP for the event.

Emergency Preparedness Training

Preparing for Emergencies Training – You received information on Friday, Aug 4 about training.  It is very informative.   It took me approximately one hour to complete all three modules.  We are all required to complete this training before the end of September.

Citizen Scholar

Deadline for 2023-2024 Citizen Scholar Award nominations is September 7.

Construction Update

Blunt (Temple Hall) Construction Details through mid-August.  If you have questions, please contact the Dean’s Office email directly BluntHallConstruction.edu

8/21/23 thru 8/25/23

  • Shoring and drilling (noise and vibration similar to demolition) continues. Concrete Trucks on JQH Parkway.
  • Please refrain from using the emergency exit as a regular entry/exit due to ongoing construction.
  • Soil removed from project site. Dump Trucks on JQH Parkway.
  • Rock crushing in Lot 18 commences. Expect noise and mild dust.
  • Equipment mobilization from JQH Parkway into project site.

8/28/23 thru 9/1/23

  • South Side East Entrance Sidewalk Replacement: Please refrain from using the emergency exit as a regular entry/exit due to ongoing construction.
  • Continue bringing in sub-base from 18A. Dump Trucks on JQH Parkway.
  • Deep pier drilling recommences (noise and vibration like demolition)..
  • Rock crushing in Lot 18 commences. Expect noise and mild dust.
  • Equipment demobilization from JQH Parkway off project site.
  • Electrical work in tunnel and Blunt Hall electrical room.

9/5/23 thru 9/8/23

  • Deep pier drilling recommences (noise and vibration like demolition). Concrete Trucks on JQH Parkway.
  • South Side East Entrance Sidewalk Replacement:
  • Electrical work in tunnel and Blunt Hall electrical room.
  • Foundation mobilization.
  • Soil & rock brought into project site. Dump Trucks on JQH Parkway.
  • Deep pier drilling recommences (noise and vibration like demolition).

  • September 14 – (Fall 2023) Faculty Senate
  • September 14 – Majors Fair
  • September 15 – Distinguished thesis award nominations due before 5pm
  • September 26-28 – Public Affairs Conference
  • September 30 – Thesis/non-thesis funding application for grant student funding
  • October 1 – (2023-2024 Tenure/Promotion) – Faculty applicants submit Tenure and/or Promotion dossier to Department Heads – External reviews are due to Department Heads for inclusion in the dossier
