CNAS LMS
Are you interested in a CNAS LMS learning community?
This learning community would be for CNAS faculty who used Brightspace in the fall of 2023 or will be using it in the spring of 2024. You must have attended the FCTL training for Brightspace prior to attending as this learning community is not for beginners. This learning community is for those faculty who are willing to share what they are learning as they use the new system. We can also bring in guest speakers to share best practices in the use of Brightspace for STEM faculty. The first meeting is Tuesday, January 9 from 3:00-4:30 PM in Blunt Hall, Room 143. If you are interested in joining such a learning community but you are not available on January 9 – please let Dylan Welker know. If there is an interested group we will schedule regular meetings.
Staff Awards Luncheon
Staff Awards Luncheon – 11:30AM – 1:30PM on January 10, all full- and part-time staff are invited to attend this luncheon and celebrate staff members that have hit milestones in their MSU careers.
Sarah Morrisey, Cooperative Engineering Program, 30 years
Patricia Reed, Bull Shoals Field Station, 5 years
Brightspace videos
Brightspace training videos specifically made for CNAS faculty are posted. If there is a specific topic that you would like to know more about please contact Ken McCrory and let him know. He will be producing new videos in January.
Foundation Awards
Foundation Award Applications are due to your Academic Unit Leader (AUL) by January 22, 2024.
Faculty Updates
Faculty – Are you using AI in your classroom and are you willing to share what you are learning? If the answer is yes – please let me know.
Faculty Annual Reports are due February 1, 2024. In 2024 all faculty annual reports will be submitted in Faculty Success (formerly Digital Measures). You can begin updating the 2023 information in Faculty Success now. Only the 2023 information is relevant for this annual review so just focus on this one year. After January 16 but before February 1 you will be asked to download your 2023 report, upload your CV and then you will be given an opportunity to add any other relevant information (optional text boxes) or pdf uploads into the Faculty Success Workflow for the annual review. A manual to help get you started is attached to this email. There will be open lab opportunities in January for those who may need a little help. (Promotion/tenure applications for associate professor with tenure will be via Faculty Success in 2024. Promotion applications for full professor or senior instructor may still use paper in 2024 but will eventually transition to Faculty Success so those with another promotion in the future you may want to begin working on updating Faculty Success with information since your last promotion.) Questions – Please talk with your academic unit leaders (department heads/school director).
Open Lab Opportunities if you have questions about Faculty Success and your annual report –
Wednesday, 1/17, 3:00-4:30, Cheek Hall 210
Friday, 1/19, 1:30-3:30, Blunt Hall 340
