CNAS Career Expo is Wednesday, November 13. Faculty are welcome to attend – especially the first hour (3-4 PM) to learn more about each of the companies. The companies are looking for spring/summer interns as well as full-time employees.

Public Affairs – The Office of Public Affairs Support is seeking nominations for the Public Affairs Fellow and theme suggestions for academic year 2026-2027. The 2025-2026 Public Affairs Fellow is Dr. Tina Liang, and the theme is Resilient People, Resilient Plant: A future worth choosing. Theme ideas and PA Fellow nominations for 2026-2027 can be submitted separately. If a faculty member has a great theme idea but does not want to be the PA Fellow, we welcome the idea. Nominees who want to be the PA Fellow but lack a theme suggestion will join a brainstorming group to develop a campus-wide theme if selected. Individuals wishing to be considered for PA Fellow should submit a CV and letter of interest outlining their interest, experience, skills and ideas to Mary Ann Wood, Director of Public Affairs Support no later than November 22, 2024. Theme Proposals should include a brief (1 page) description of the theme and how it would fulfill the above criteria (including specific examples of curricular and co-curricular activities that could take place). BLUNT HALL CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:
Phase One
11/11/24 thru 11/22/24
- Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing work in addition & auditoriums – Levels 0, 4 & 5.
- Gypsum board installation & Finish Level 2 & 4. Painting on Level 4.
- Floor Polishing on Level 0 & 3.
- Curtain wall continues. GFRC installation continues. Metal wrap continues.
- Lab Casework Installation continues – Level 0, 1, 2 & 3. Lab Consultant on site for review.
- Hardscape on north side installation of storm drain continues.
Projected completion data April 1. We will be working with each lab to determine move-in dates between April 1 and June 30, 2025.
Phase Two
11/11/24 thru 11/22/24
- Removal of soffit material at atrium and corridors
- Gypsum board repairs continue South Side Level 2 & 3.
- Hydronic main continues in basement, mechanical rooms, and South Side Level 2 & 3.
- Ductwork installation continues – South Side Level 2 & 3.
- Electrical work continues South Side Level 2 & 3.
Projected completion date August 1, 2026. We are still working on the phasing of the project. L2 and 3 – Southside completion date is projected to be May 1, 2025.
L1 – Northside construction starts January 1, 2025.
Next steps will be determined in the next two weeks.

D. Information Services
- Windows 10 end of life is October 2025. Departments need to be working now with their IT support team to create a plan for replacement or surplus of any computers that will not support Windows 11. As of October 1, 2025, only PCs running Windows 11 will be User Support services move to Meyer Library Spring 2025.
- Scantron Services no longer supported by Information Services after May 2025. It is being replaced with a better system, called Akindi, which you can read about in this Information Services blog.
- Cheek Hall Open Access Computer Lab closes December 12, 2024, to prepare for the Cheek Hall renovation to begin May 2025.

- “What’s Brewing at Your Library” will be held in the Duane G. Meyer Library on Thursday, December 12 from 5-7pm

- University College: Planning for launch continues; projected: early January Kathy Nordyke (Citizenship and Service Learning or CASL) and John Chuchiak (Honors College) are now reporting to Kelly Wood and this is a precursor to launching the University College in January
- Katrina Chavez, Registar’s office – Joining the Provost’s Office Nov. 2024 (Faculty Senate secretary and part-time worker will report to Katrina)
