Jonathan Kitchin

English alumnus on Homecoming panel

Making the Most of Your First Professional Opportunity will feature COAL alums and their secrets for success.

October 8, 2013 by Mandy Morgan

As we move closer to Homecoming, don’t miss out on the incredible alumni coming back to campus to share a good chunk of advice with students, families, faculty and staff. Making the Most of Your First Professional Opportunity will feature COAL alumni and their secrets for success.

Jonathan KitchinJonathan Kitchin, information technology consultant, will be telling his story of how his experiences with music and professional writing have made him successful in his workplace.

During his undergraduate career at MSU, Kitchin was involved in the marching band and loved watching the football games. “It was always an exciting atmosphere on campus,” Kitchin said. Now as an alumnus, he is excited to be a part of a new Homecoming tradition. “It’s exciting, but there’s a little bit of pressure there. If people come and listen to what we have to say, I want to leave them with hope,” said Kitchin.

Kitchin attributes his arts background as a huge advantage in the corporate workplace. He speaks of his two lives, in music and writing, and how that specific pairing has taught him to be excellent at a skill and making something truly great. “It gives you an edge in the modern workplace.”

Don’t miss out on the other great information Kitchin has to share during the panel in Coger Theatre, on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m.
