Beta Alpha Psi is a National Honorary Organization for accounting, finance and computer information system majors. Students must be actively involved by attending at least six professional meetings, put in six service hours, and accrue four flexible (service or professional) hours each semester. The Theta Pi Chapter at Missouri State University has more than 60 members and candidates.
Beta Alpha Psi participates in a variety of service events including Relay for Life and Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and hosts a free tutor lab. The tutor lab — fully run by members — is available for students with entry-level accounting and finance classes throughout the year and is available for two hours twice a week each semester in Glass Hall. At any given time, there are two or three students available to help.
Beta Alpha Psi also takes part in community events such as the annual Sertoma Clubs’ Chili Cook Off and the Hunt, Fish and Swap Expo. Overall, the organization contributes about 1,000 hours of service each academic year.
