Ashley Peery is among five students worldwide selected for prestigious scholarship
Ashley Peery, who is in the M.B.A. program with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, was recently selected as one of five winners from around the world for the Institute of Management Accountants Scholarship. The Institute of Management Accountants is a worldwide association for accountants and financial professionals working in business, with the goal of strengthening career skills through certification, connecting professionals through networking, educating through publications and research, and providing professional development. Scholarship recipients are IMA members who intend to pursue a career in management accounting, financial management or information technology and excel in areas of leadership, character, communication skills, scholastic average and financial need.
Peery — a native of Mexico, Mo. — graduated as a valedictorian of Mexico High School in 2009. As a COB student, Peery became secretary of the Accounting Club in 2011-12, president of the Accounting Club/Institute of Management Accountants Student Chapter in 2012-13 and will remain president of the club for the 2013-14 academic year. Peery also is a member of the Dean’s Student Leadership Council, College of Business Ambassadors, Beta Gamma Sigma and Golden Key International Honour Society.
Peery’s experience includes working as a teller at Commerce Bank and a summer internship in the finance and accounting department at O’Reilly Automotive. Peery serves as a graduate assistant in the Finance and General Business Department and will complete a 2013 summer internship as a member of the budget team in the accounting department of Associated Electric in Springfield. Peery plans to finish her M.B.A. in May 2014 and would like to pursue a career in private industry management accounting.
