
Finance and General Business Senior Instructor Dr. Nancy Allen has signed a contract with HarperCollins, Inc., for a new legal thriller series. The first book, “The Code of the Hills,” is set for release in spring 2014. A sequel is planned to follow in 2015. The books will first be available in digital format, under the HarperCollins William Morrow/Witness imprint. Allen, a former Greene County Assistant Prosecutor and Assistant Missouri Attorney General, draws on her trial experience when crafting the novels. Currently, she teaches LAW 231, Legal Environment of Business, to students in the College of Business.

Dr. Olen Greer, Professor in the School of Accountancy, published the article “Controlling Legal Costs” in the December 2012 issue of Strategic Finance magazine and was recently notified the article received a Lybrand Certificate of Merit as one of the top articles of the year.

Missouri State University has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. The Finance and General Business department has been acknowledged for incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. This program positions students to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, which is the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.Entry into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program signals to potential students, employers and the marketplace that MSU’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well suited to prepare students for the CFA examinations. MSU is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year. Congratulations to FGB Department Head Dr. Kent Ragan and all FGB faculty members.
