Dr. Kevin Hubbard, in the Technology and Construction Management Department, has received a Faculty Research Grant from the Graduate College to fund a project to diagnose and correct problems in building environmental control systems. More than 40% of all primary energy usage in the U.S. is associated with the heating, cooling and operation of buildings. Energy usage associated with building environmental control systems often increases more than 17% within two years of commissioning. The purpose of the project is to provide a “tune up” on building environmental control systems, eliminating energy waste that often develops over time.
