Each year the College of Business recognizes our most outstanding business students at our Spring Awards dinner. This year’s dinner was held May 1 at the University Plaza Hotel and was a celebration-filled evening for our most accomplished students. Attending the dinner and assisting in presentation of the awards were members of the COB Executive Advisory Council, representing major companies from across the U.S.
This year, 23 departmental and four College of Business awards were conferred to students. The winners include:

- Outstanding Master of Business Administration Award
This award is presented to one or more outstanding MBA students in recognition of his or her exceptional academic achievement.
The 2013-2014 recipients are Colby Geringer and Collin Geringer. (See the Student Spotlight in this issue for more on the Geringers.)
- David D. Glass Outstanding Graduate Student in the College Of Business
This award is given to an outstanding graduate student from the School of Accountancy or the Master of Business Administration program in recognition of his or her outstanding academic achievement.
The 2013-2014 recipient is Olivia Kimminau.
- Joseph Daniel Delp Award
This award is given to a graduating senior who has shown outstanding achievement, industry and desire through goal setting, self-support through work beyond studies, trustworthiness, leadership, and perseverance. Students are nominated for this award by a College of Business Department Head or Program Director. Nominees are required to write a one page essay as to how they fulfill the award criteria. The recipient of this award is selected by the Dean and Associate Deans.

- Virgil Cheek Memorial Award
This award is given to the outstanding graduating senior majoring in business in recognition of exceptional academic achievement, character, leadership and potential for success. The award is accompanied by a permanent name engraving on the scholarship plaque displayed in the College of Business Dean’s Office.
Students are nominated for this award by a College of Business Department Head or Program Director. Nominees are required to write a one page essay as to how they fulfill the award criteria. The recipient of this award is selected by the Dean and Associate Deans.

We have one other academic department, Fashion & Interior Design, that honors their students at two separate events: the annual Fashion Show held this year on April 12 and Interior Design Senior Show, held this year on April 4.
