Last month freshman students interested in business moved into rooms on two unique floors in the Blair-Shannon Residence Hall. These floors have been set aside, for the second year, to accommodate a unique living learning environment called the Bears Business Community (BBC).
Four Faculty Fellows from COB are volunteering their time to work with students in the BBC:
- Sarah Evans, instructor, Computer Information Systems department
- Dana Frederick, instructor, Management department
- Michelle Granger, professor, Management department
- Duane Moses, associate professor, Computer information systems department
BBC Faculty Fellows meet with students and host both educational and recreational activities. Some events for the coming year include an etiquette dinner, workshop on financial literacy for freshman year, a session on how to register for spring classes, NERF tournament, ice cream social, breakfast with the COB Dean and Department Heads and many more activities still being planned.
There are also two potential trips on the schedule for next year: an alternative spring break where students can volunteer and learn about ethical leadership, and, an international study away trip at the end of the spring semester.
On each BBC floor there is a Resident Assistant and a Residential Programming Assistant. These upper-classmen live on the floor and participate in the BBC activities with the residents. The interview and selection process for these positions is highly competitive. This year we are pleased to have the following students working with our BBC:
- Ashley Bennington, sales management major
- Courtney Riggs, general business major
- Andrew Edward, entertainment management major
We look forward to a great BBC year and will share more information about the exciting activities as the year progresses.
