Research
- Barry Cobb, interim department head, Management, published his paper “Inventory Control for Returnable Transport Items in a Closed-Loop Supply Chain” in Transportation Research Part E, and his paper “Estimating Cycle Time and Return Rate Distributions” in the International Journal of Production Research. These publications are both ranked in the top 25 Management Science and Operations Research journals according to the SCImago Journal & Country Rank.
- Jason Debode, assistant professor, Management, published his paper “Fulfilling employees’ psychological contracts: Organizational Socialization’s Role” in the Leadership & Organizational Development Journal.
- Vinay Garg, associate professor, Management, presented a paper “Leadership Paradox in Organization Evolution: An Executive Team Consensus-Based Exposition” at the 2016 International Allied Academies Conference, March 29 to April 2, in New Orleans, LA.
- Michele M. Granger, professor, Management, published an article “An Exploratory Analysis of Entrepreneurs’ Social Media Usage in Small Business Practices” in the Journal of Marketing Management and an article “An entrance for healthful living and aging in place” in the American International Journal of Social Science.
- Dana Haggard, associate professor, Management, co-authored : “On The Exchange of Hostility With Supervisors: An Examination of Self-Enhancing and Self-Defeating Perspectives,” in Personnel Psychology, Volume 68, Issue 4, pages 723–758, Winter 2015. Co-authors include Marie Mitchell with the University of Georgia, and Ben Tepper with Ohio State University.
- Jeff Jones, assistant professor, Finance and General Business, presented the following paper at the Southwestern Finance Association Conference in Oklahoma City: “The Impact of Employer-Delayed Deposits on Plan Participant Wealth.”
- Corinne Karuppan, professor, Management, published the book, Operations Management in Healthcare: Strategy and Practice. New York, NY: Springer Publishing Company, Karuppan, C.M., Dunlap, N.E., & Waldrum, M.R. (2016). She also published her paper “Employer-Based Coverage and Medical Travel Options: Lessons for Healthcare Managers” in the Journal of Healthcare Management.
- Melody LaPreze, assistant professor, Management, published the following paper, “Exploring the Factors Which Influence the Timing of a New Entrant’s Job Search,” The Journal of Global Business Management, Vol. 12, Num. 1, April 2016.
- Carol Miller, distinguished professor, Finance and General Business, combines an interest in business law and environmental regulation in her newest research. She spent a recent sabbatical researching the current guidelines for transparency in eco-friendly advertising as well as advocacy efforts to encourage state governments to adopt benefit corporation statutes.
Awards
- Melissa Burnett, professor, Marketing, was one of five recipients of the Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in Public Affairs 2015-2016. The award is given annually to faculty and staff members who excel at carrying out the public affairs mission and each recipient is awarded a $1,500 grant to be used for travel, research and/or projects related to their work with Public Affairs. Burnett received the award for her work with the interdisciplinary Ad Team.
- Olen Greer, professor, Accounting, is the recipient of two awards from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA); 2016 Faculty Leadership Award and Exemplary Leadership Award.
- David Joswick, senior instructor, Technology and Construction Management, received the District Award of Merit for his work with the Boys Scouts from the Ozarks Trail Council, Pathfinder District.
- Cathy Van Landuyt, senior instructor, Computer Information Systems, received the Missouri State University Excellence in Service Learning Award. The award was presented at the All Faculty Recognition Reception on May 4.
- Several faculty members were recognized for outstanding achievement in research and service to the College at the All COB meeting on Friday, May 6.
- S Berlin Brahnam, professor, Computer Information Systems: Dean’s Research Scholar Award. All faculty members who have authored 15 or more refereed journal publications over the past five years.
- Stephen Haggard, associate professor, Finance: Outstanding Scholarly Activity Award for Empirically Based Research Paper. This award is selected by the COB Research and Awards Committee.
- Christopher S. Hines, assistant professor, Accounting: Outstanding Scholarly Activity Award for Empirically Based Research Paper. This award is selected by the COB Research and Awards Committee.
- David B. Meinert, associate dean: Outstanding Service Award. The COB Outstanding Service Award recognizes either a faculty or staff member who has gone above and beyond in service to the university or the community. Recipients are selected by the Dean.
- Courtney T. Pham, instructor, Marketing: Outstanding Faculty Award. Nominations are made through essays submitted by any COB student, and the COB Student Leadership Council selects the recipient. The criterion for selection is a faculty member who contributes to student success in a profound, meaningful way.
