James Philpot, associate professor, has been recognized by the Federation of Business Disciplines (FBD) as Outstanding Educator of the Year for 2017.
The FBD sponsors nine annual Outstanding Educator awards, one for each regional professional association. Philpot will receive his award from the Southwestern Finance Association (SWFA) at the annual meeting to be held in Little Rock during March.
SWFA was founded in 1961 and co-sponsors the Journal of Financial Research (JFR). JFR has been historically recognized as one of the top 50 most cited journals in financial research.
Philpot has been heavily involved with SWFA during his career, most notably serving as association president in 2011.
“We are extremely proud of Dr. Philpot for this achievement. His dedication to his students and the finance profession is exemplary,” states Dr. Stephanie Bryant, Dean of the College of Business.
