Dr. Kimberly Swanson Church , director of the School of Accountancy at Missouri State University, received recognition for her research earlier this summer from the American Accounting Association (AAA).
Since Church received the Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award from AAA, she has continued to gain recognition from other reputable accounting organizations.
The Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business (IMA) honored Church with the IMA R. Lee Brummet Award.
The Brummet Award, created in honor of former IMA president, R. Lee Brummet, acknowledges management accounting academicians.
To obtain the award, recipients must meet the following criteria:
- Have a distinguished career as an educator in management accounting.
- Be a published academic scholar in management accounting.
- Maintain service to IMA.
- Promote management accounting as an occupation.
In July, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA) board welcomed Church as one of the organization’s three new directors.
“It’s an honor in accounting to be nominated to your state CPA society board,” said Church.
She will serve a three-year term, which began July 1.
The MOCPA is the Missouri CPA organization, which acts on behalf of 9,000 members who serve a variety of public and private organizations.
