Choose a task force chair who agrees to facilitate the process of reviewing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to COE efforts to support students. Examine existing student supports and prioritize the list in terms of those that contribute most to departmental, college, and university missions. Include suggestions for additional supports that might be considered by the COE Leadership Council, Budget Committee, academic departments, and support units. Submit a written report of 1,000 words or fewer to the interim dean by October 15, 2012. Present findings to the COE during a fall 2012 or winter 2013 meeting.
Questions Guiding Inquiry:
- What types of student supports are currently in place?
- Which student supports currently in place are most critical to the mission of the department, college and university? Which are most successful? Why?
- What types of student supports not currently in place should be considered? Why? Expected outcomes?
- What recommendations regarding specific student supports should be considered by the COE Leadership Council, Budget Committee, academic departments, and support units?
