Candace Fairbairn, clinical instructor, Childhood Education and Family Studies, will retire effective November 1, 2016. Candace has been a part of the MSU College of Education student teacher supervision team since 1994. The RFT department head position should be posted on Monday, October 10th. The search committee will begin reviewing applicants on December 1st. Committee members are: Becky Swearingen, chair, Alex Jean-Charles, Steve Hinch, Tuesda Roberts, Deanne Camp, David Goodwin, and Linda Garrison-Kane. The new department head will start on August 1, 2017, with an opportunity to transition into the position by working with Dr. Cathy Pearman, RFT faculty, et al., between May and July 2017, depending on availability.
CEFS is currently searching for two assistant professors, an associate professor, and a clinical instructor in elementary education; an assistant professor for early childhood education, and an assistant professor for the child and family development program.
In previous Posts, we have noted a number of retirements that will take place by August 2017. While some faculty and staff searches are underway or have recently been finalized, we have received six
Requests for Positions from academic units across COE. Per our Strategic Hiring Plan processes, the Budget Committee will review these requests on October 21st to recommend how much on-going salary funds to set aside for same. The Faculty Advisory Council will meet on October 26th and rank order the six RFPs. The COE Leadership Council will meet on October 27th and make recommendations to the dean. At this time, we are calculating the on-going salaries budget that will be available beginning August 2017. I trust we will be able to identify additional funds to enable the College to add two new positions from the RFPs submitted for consideration.
Keep Calm and October On,
