Fall 2018 Dr. Michael N. Compton Public Affairs Essay Contest
The Dr. Michael N. Compton Public Affairs Essay Contest is coordinated and funded by Sigma Pi alumni’s IDEAL (Institute for the Development of Ethics and Leadership) non-profit organization, promoted by the undergraduate members of Sigma Pi (who are not eligible to compete) and administered by MSU’s Office of Public Affairs Support.
The goal of the contest is to support the Public Affairs mission at MSU by boosting student interest in the yearly theme. Faculty are encouraged to allow members of Sigma Pi to briefly announce the contest in classes sometime between Aug 27 and Aug 29. Doing so will provide a leadership experience for Sigma Pi members. Faculty may also make their own announcement.
Complete details about the Contest are available at: https://publicaffairs.missouristate.edu/350031.htm
Submissions are due by Midnight, October 14, 2018.

Online Thesis Submission and Review in Final Stages
The information below is from Dr. Julie Masterson, Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate College:
We are in the final stages of preparing for online thesis submission and review. We are using Blackboard, and my hope is that the course site will be a “one-stop shopping” site for everything students need external to the academic content.
It will be critical to get the word out to students who are doing or will do theses. They don’t tend to come when the GC offers workshops, so I was thinking it might be best for us to come to you. Can we work together to identify a time/place and invite your thesis students and their advisors (if possible) to come? Ideally we could have the meetings sometime in September. That would catch the continuing students in time, while getting the new students enrolled at the very beginning, which is what we want.
I think everyone is going to be really happy with this new path, but it will work only to the extent that folks know about it.
