Becky Crowder welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order. The minutes from the meeting on November 6, 2018, were approved.
Action Items: All curricular proposals were discussed prior to voting.
Curricular Proposals:
Change Course
Reading, Foundations, and Technology
– MID400 Philosophy, Curriculum, and Organization of Middle School Education-Approved
– MID425 Middle School Curriculum-Approved
– MID439 Middle School Instructional Strategies-Approved
– SEC302 General Methods of Instruction in the Middle and Secondary Schools-Approved
Change Program
Reading, Foundations, and Technology
– Middle School Education/Language Arts-BSED: This one will be approved after a correction regarding including new courses is changed and it is re-submitted.
– Middle School Education/Mathematics-BSED-Approved
– Middle School Education/Science-BSED-Approved
– Middle School Education/Social Studies-BSED-Approved
New Business
Department and Greenwood faculty are to nominate a ranked faculty member for Faculty Concerns (3-year term), a Faculty Senate Committee. Completed Faculty Senate nominee ballots will be sent to College Council Chairs when completed. Council Members were asked to check with their department head/director to see when this would be on their faculty meeting agenda. COE College Council will elect one new member for this committee from the names submitted and forward it to the Faculty Senate Office by March 8, 2019. Becky is going to talk to the Faculty Senate Chair regarding the qualifications for Greenwood faculty.
There was no new business.
