Leadership Council

May 8, 2020
9:00 – 10:30 am
Agenda
Zoom

Attendees:  David Hough, Russ Brock, Denise Cunningham, Kim Dubree, Karen Engler, Deanna Hallgren, Stephanie Huffman, Dennis Lancaster, Travis Marler, Juli Panza, Barri Tinkler, Ximena Uribe-Zarain, Rose Lee, Sharon Lopinot

Dean Hough welcomed everyone.  He just finished meeting with the Faculty Advisory Council.  The main purpose was to discuss the COE Returning to Campus policy.  They made the following suggestions:

  • Start policy with the goals
  • Should it include a reminder regarding their health, if you have a temperature, etc.

The Dean said the university is developing a statement for the syllabus regarding this.  He may add a reminder to the policy.

  • Post policy on the COE website
  • In the email request to return to campus, add are they bringing anyone with them
  • Note that changes can be made if necessary so document is subject to change

The Dean asked if there were any more suggestions.  After this meeting ends, he wants to make some changes and email it to LC members.  Everyone needs to read through it and send him any edits/suggestions/approval/non-approval by noon.  The policy would be in effect starting Monday, May 11.  The Dean will keep track of the requests for a while and then give to someone else.  He will also let supervisors know when one of their faculty/staff members emails a request to him to be on campus.

Suggestions

Russ:  in opening statement, start with “the preference is we prefer you to continue to work from home, but if necessary to come to campus (for whatever reason), email the Dean “how many days” prior.  Allow “48 hours” for a decision to be made.

Will the BearPass work to get in the building?  Rose will check and get back to the Dean after the meeting.
