Dean Hough welcomed everyone.
Barri discussed the draft renaming and duties proposal for the Associate Dean’s Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Data Management. The draft document was discussed at the ALC retreat yesterday. The primary focus areas are: Assessment & Data Management, Research & Evaluation, and Professional Development. Embedded across the three focus areas is an emphasis on equity, inclusion, and student success. Barri discussed what would fall under each area. She also explained the timeline. The final name for the office will evolve prior to being finalized. Dean Hough asked for feedback. Janice recommended adding support for Greenwood K-12. Stephanie said the changes sound good and that her faculty should be in favor of the changes. Karen suggested adding “inclusive of secondary” to the entry statement. The Dean than asked if anyone was opposed to what was presented or in favor. All LC members were in favor of the document and moving forward.

Masks for faculty and staff are ready to distribute to departments. Dean Hough said everyone will be emailed with a full explanation on what to do prior to distribution. We do not know about student masks yet.
Sharon Lopinot
The Alumni Center is in the planning stages of the Bears in the Know luncheon series. It will be more of a virtual platform and they emailed the Dean asking if COE would like to participate. The dates open were February 3, 2021 and July 27, 2010. No one responded.
Travis Marler
Ximena and I are working with Institutional Research to create a data dashboard in PowerBI that would provide enrollment and faculty numbers for the dean. Also, she and I are planning a dashboard for the COE (and possible the EPP as a whole) that would contain data commonly used by the college, like Admit to Teacher Ed, student demographics, recommendation for certification, and other things.
Russ Brock
They have two hiring proposals almost completed. They are getting requests for professional development from various school districts. Everyone is following social distancing guidelines.
Jef Cornelius-White
They are working with new faculty members, moving things around and discussing workloads.
Karen Engler
The Field Experiences Task Force will meet again next Thursday. She, Barri and some other faculty will be attending the 2020 MACTE Summer Virtual Conference.
Janice Duncan
Faculty, staff and parents are very anxious about starting school and activities. She is having a separate meeting with elementary and secondary faculty to discuss what is going on. Some of her faculty attended the last Town Hall meeting and wanting to know when a mask policy will be issued. She has been told that Greenwood will follow the same opening plans as Springfield Public Schools. She has checked to see if they can do what they want, but has not heard back. They are still getting enrollment applications for new students. Currently enrollment is down by 30 students.
Dean Hough
Juli sent the Dean an email from the Office of Student Engagement regarding faculty/staff that would like to provide an activity for students when the move in August 10 – 13. Barri will email department heads and send any responses to Juli. The Teacher of the Year event is virtual this year on August 19. He will send the information to the Dean, Rose, and Sharon.
The Dean received an email on an SAHE student who is a student representative on the Board of Governors. This will go in the next Hough Post.
Travel funds are very limited. He will cover costs for most virtual meetings/conferences.
