College of Education Plan—Next Steps
Last week in a university town hall meeting, the Long Range Plan Steering Committee provided an overview of the four themes that comprise the foundation for the plan. These themes will guide the work of the university over the next five years. In the January COE meeting, I asked faculty to discuss the four themes and share work that you are already doing related to these themes as well as ideas for things you would like to do.
I took all of your feedback and combined and condensed these ideas into a manageable list of possible College of Education goals. This summer, I will convene a group of faculty recommended by department heads to further refine these goals for the college.
We will hold our 2021 college meeting on Friday, August 20 from 10:00-12:00 in Hill Hall 001. During that meeting, we will share the College of Education goals for our plan. I will then ask each department to convene in a breakout room in Hill Hall to generate ideas for department specific goals and actions. Departments will be asked to refine and finalize their departmental goals and actions by the end of the fall 2021 semester. This collaborative work will result in a college plan that will guide our decisions through 2026.
