Important Announcements
DESE Matrices
DESE has made the decision to no longer require that programs submit matrices for approval. However, every program’s course requirements still have to meet the requirements for your certification area as outlined in the rules, and the matrices are aligned with those rules. When we recommend a candidate for certification, we are verifying that they have met all of the certification requirements outlined in the rules.
Given this shift, we have some new information for programs as you consider curriculum changes:
• If you make curriculum changes to a certification program, when the changes go to the EPP screening committee for review, Kim Dubree will be checking the changes to make sure they align with the rules for your certification area. Please review the rules for your certification area before you propose program changes.
• Programs can choose to submit a matrix to DESE for approval if they make program changes, but it is not required.
• If you develop a new program, we are required to submit a matrix to DESE for review and approval.
