Volume 2, Number 1
College Meeting
The All College Meeting will be held on Friday, August 20 from 10:00-12:00. We are shifting the location to PSU Grand Ballroom (3rd floor) to have more room to distance, and we will provide a Zoom option as well. The Zoom link will be forthcoming. Refreshments will be provided for those attending in person.
This is the agenda for the meeting:
- Welcome from Dean Tinkler
- Remarks from Provost Einhellig
- Introduction of New Faculty and Staff
- Update on College Initiatives
- Overview of College-Wide Goals and Actions for the College Plan
- Breakout Sessions by Department/Unit to Discuss Department Specific Actions
Important Announcements
Rachel Heinz, Director of Bear POWER, resigned this summer. Caleb Hatz and Kim Roam agreed to take on the role of interim co-directors, and a search will begin this fall for the permanent director. We wish Rachel well and thank her for all she did in establishing the program.
Professional Development Opportunity
The Graduate College will present a workshop, Preparing a Successful Internal Grant Application on September 17, 2021 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm in Karl’s Hall, room 101.
Join your colleagues for a discussion of how to write a competitive proposal for a Faculty Research Grant or Summer Faculty Fellowship. The presentation will be followed by time for questions and discussion, so you are encouraged to bring specific ideas or proposal drafts for feedback. Ranked faculty are eligible for this funding. The upcoming due dates for proposals are:
- Faculty Research Grants: October 1, 2021 (for FA2021 applications) and February 1, 2022 (for SP2022 applications).
- Summer Faculty Fellowships: October 30, 2021 (for SU2022 applications).

Outreach Activities
Kudos to our COE colleagues who were busy recruiting over the summer. Debra Price, Rhonda Bishop, and Kim Roam attended the Missouri Family and Consumer Science Conference. They presented information about ways teachers can partner with the College of Education for dual credit and support of their Teacher Pathways programs. I know many of you have recruitment and retention activities planned for the start of the fall semester, and I want to ask you to please remember to send me your updates, news, and information so I can share it with our colleagues and all the readers of Bear Tracks at cathypearman@missourstate.edu.
