We are super happy to announce that Michaela Goldsmith recently accepted an assistantship offer and full tuition waiver from the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha! Starting this summer, Michaela will be collecting and coding data for a project with the Juvenile Justice Institute and the Victimology and Victim Studies Research Lab up in Omaha.
Michaela earned a bachelor’s degree here at Missouri State and is currently putting the final touches on her thesis for a defense scheduled on April 9th. As an undergrad, she was the first recipient of the Michael Carlie Make a Difference Scholarship. Since 2018, Michaela has served as a program monitor and data coordinator with the Child Advocacy Center in Greene County. She is also a co-writer for the Department newsletter.
Michaela’s achievement comes as no surprise to those of us in the Department. As a side note, Drs. Marijana Kotlaja and Brett Garland received their doctoral degrees in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska. So they are especially proud and excited to see Michaela taking the next steps of her academic journey there.
Congratulations, Michaela!!!
