Sigma Mu Sigma, the MSU chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma (APS) international criminal justice honor society, had an impressive showing during March at the APS Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland.
Several of our criminology students won elections to the APS Executive Board, including Josh Woolfington (President), Cassandra Engle (Secretary), and Sierra Sankey (Treasurer).
Our Sigma Mu Sigma Chapter had a host of other impressive feats:
- Josh Woolfington and Cassandra Engle participated on a 3-member quiz bowl team that won 1st place
- Cassandra Engle won the graduate paper writing competition
- An MSU team (composed of Sierra Sankey, AJ Sellars, Kate Woods, & Josh Woolfington) took 3rd place in the crime scene competition
- Josh Woolfington and Cassandra Engle took 1st and 2nd place in a criminal justice scholarship test
- The two most prestigious awards handed out at the APS conference were won by MSU Students: the V. A. Leonard Scholarship went to Josh Woolfington and the Regina B. Shearn Award to Cassandra Engle
- The Sigma Mu Sigma chapter faculty advisor, Ivy Yarckow-Brown, received the APS Advisor of the Year Award
Congratulations to all who represented us at the APS conference. We are very proud!
