Meet our keynote speaker
Dr. Daryl G. Smith
Senior Research Fellow
Claremont Graduate University
Daryl G. Smith, senior research fellow and professor emerita of education and psychology at Claremont Graduate University, is the keynote speaker for the 2015 SCDC. Dr. Smith’s research, teaching and publications are in the areas of organizational implications of diversity, assessment and evaluation, leadership and change and governance. Smith served as one of three Principals responsible for the evaluation of the James Irvine Foundation Campus Diversity Initiative, in collaboration with the Association of American Colleges. This six-year initiative involved 28 independent California institutions in the development of sustainable diversity practices in the higher education field. It resulted in a resource kit for campuses and a monograph, “Making a Real Difference with Diversity: A Guide to Institutional Change.” In addition, she was a participant in a Kellogg Foundation Research Advisory Board, Harvard Medical School, and served as part of two U.S. delegations to Ford Foundation tri-national conferences on campus diversity in higher education for India, South Africa and the United States. Smith served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in South Africa in 2010 and 2012.
