Women’s HERstory Month
Shattering the Silences: One Drop of Love
7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Plaster Student Union Theater
Faculty, students and staff are invited to experience Franshen Cox DiGiovanni as she leads a multimedia solo performance that focuses on the intersections of race, class, and gender identity.
One Drop uses the ever-changing racial categories on the U.S. Census as the historical backdrop to this interactive show. Throughout, the audience is asked to participate in defining and redefining these categories for themselves and one another. Franshen parallels this history with her own, and her family’s search for roots, identity and for justice. Audiences will travel from the 1700s to the present, to cities around the U.S., and to West and East Africa, to pursue more truth – leading to more justice – and then, perhaps to LOVE.
Sponsored by: Multicultural Programs, Residence Hall Association, Ekklesia-Progressive Campus Ministry, Psychology Club, Community Involvement and Service, Student Government Association, Panhellenic Association (PHA), Division for Diversity and Inclusion, and Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.
