The Student Transition Education Program (STEP) Conference was held on September 26, 2013. STEP is a one day conference to help area students get a better understanding of the steps it takes to gain admission to higher education. STEP also helps students to better understand the mechanics of financial aid and how to fill out the correct forms. Our STEP is part of Hispanic Heritage Month which focuses on Hispanic students from southwest Missouri/northwest Arkansas. The program will be made available in Spanish for the student’s whose parents are not fluent in English. The conference will run from 8:45 am to 2:00 pm with lunch provided for all attendees. The conference is free and open to any student. STEP will provide an opportunity for students and parents to learn about Missouri State University and a chance to meet with Clif Smart- President, Ken Coopwood, Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion, Dee Siscoe, Vice President, Student AffairsStephanie Bryant, Dean, College of Business Administration, Tammy Jahnke, Dean, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, David Hough, Dean, College of Education, Juan Meraz – Assistant Vice President Multicultural Services, Jordana Vera, Interim Coordinator-Diversity Outreach and Recruitment, and representatives from our Financial Aid Office, Admissions, Multicultural Student Services and students from Missouri State University.
This year’s conference hosted a record 565 participants – 445 students and 120 parents – from Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas.
