Administrative Services Notification Blog Now Active
To better communicate interruptions, campus closures, or occurrences that may create accessibility issues on campus, the Administrative Service Notifications blog has been created and is now active. This is a collaborative effort on behalf of Facilities Management, Planning, Design and Construction, and Safety and Transportation to consolidate information and make it available to the public. Through support from the Office of Web and New Media, the Administrative Service Notifications blog now has the option to subscribe directly via any email address and subscribers will receive email notifications automatically anytime new information is posted. We look forward to providing a valuable resource for the Disability Resource Center and the campus community.
Flu Shots at Taylor Health and Wellness

Come to Taylor Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:15 pm for your flu shot.
The cost for the seasonal flu vaccine is as follows:
* MSU employees (full and part-time) – No Cost (paid by MSU health insurance plan)
* Household members of employees – No Cost (paid by MSU health insurance plan)
* Retirees – on MSU insurance – No Cost (paid by MSU health insurance plan)
* Retirees on Medicare – No Cost (paid by Medicare) – Check in at the Business Office prior to receiving injection
* Students – No Cost (paid by Student Fees)
* Others – $29.50
* Please note, Taylor Health and Wellness Center does not vaccinate children under 6 years of age. Ages 6-9 years need to bring a copy of their immunization record to determine if the child needs one or two flu vaccines. If you have children less than 6 years of age, please contact their pediatrician for information about the vaccine.
* If you are on Coumadin (warfarin) we must have an INR lab result in the last 3 weeks equal to or less than 3.5.
* Bring your BearPass Card. Dress for easy access to your upper arm.

“Nikifor Krynicki: 50 Water Colors” Exhibit
April 18, all day, Meyer Library Room 107
A collection of watercolor paintings by Nikifor Krynicki (1895-1968), a naïve painter from Krynica, Poland, will be on display in Missouri State University’s Duane G. Meyer Library from Tuesday, April 14th to May 13th, 2016. Nikifor’s paintings display a wide variety of religious architecture, self-portraiture and rural scenes.
The watercolors are on loan from the Alfons Karny Collection. Alfons Karny (1901-1989), a well-known Polish sculptor and collector of Nikifor’s work, was the great uncle of Missouri State University Art & Design professor, Jacek Fraczak, the owner and coordinator for this exhibition. Before arriving in Springfield, the exhibition was shown in Buffalo, NY and Chicago, IL.
“I decided to bring the set of fifty Nikifor’s artworks for a show in Springfield in order to share its unique value with our students and the community of art lovers of south-west Missouri. (Alfons Karny) created this collection because he could recognize a great artistic value in the art of someone neglected by the society. Nikifor is presently regarded as one of the greatest naïve artists of the 20th century,” said Fraczak.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Carrie’s Café is the popular, student-managed restaurant of the hospitality and restaurant administration department. Students enrolled in HRA 435 (Restaurant Management) design Carrie’s menu, prepare and serve the food and market the restaurant.
Carrie’s Café is open to the public during certain times throughout the semester. Please refer to this website for hours and days of operation.
We are now located on the fourth floor of Pummill Hall. Metered parking available in Lot 14, 22, 24 and 38(Bear Park South). If parking in metered parking at Bear Park South, the Bear Line Shuttle designated Red Route stops at Carrington which is right next to Pummill.

BFA in Design Senior Professional Practicum Final Projects
May 2, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Student Exhibition Center
The final project of the Design Practicum is based on the student’s ability to define and select a problem of visual communication that requires the work of a designer and/or illustrator. The process of design continues to be the emphasis of this problem, as well as visually organizing that process for presentation. Students are encouraged to work with community nonprofit organizations.

Edgar Moreau, Cello
May 3, 7:30 – 9:30 PM, Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts
French cellist EDGAR MOREAU won First Prize in the 2014 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. In 2013, he was named New Talent of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique in France, and this year, he was named Solo Instrumentalist of the Year. He will perform in recital as part of Hammons Hall’s Don and Betty Wessel Emerging Concert Artists series.
Born in 1994 in Paris, Edgar Moreau began playing the cello at the age of four and the piano at six. He studied with Philippe Muller at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, and currently works with Frans Helmerson at the Kronberg Academy. Mr. Moreau has performed as soloist with orchestras across Europe and Asia, and is in frequent demand as a chamber musician. His first CD, Play, a collection of short pieces, is available on Warner Classics label. He plays a David Tecchler cello, dated 1711.

Distance Education Option at Missouri State University

BFA in Studio Art Senior Exhibitions Reception

The BFA Senior Exhibition reception is tonight at 6pm at Brick City Gallery, 215 West Mill Street, Springfield. This is a First Friday Art walk event.
Nineteen senior students completing degree requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts/Studio Art will be exhibiting their art at Brick City Gallery, April 7-May 10. Regular gallery hours are 11-6pm M-F, and Noon-5pm Saturday.

The EA Showcase will feature three senior thesis films this year, including Counting to 1000, Bad Beat and Liven, and lots of short creative work produced by electronic arts students.

Volunteer Description: Thursday nights at The Fairbanks: Join us for our busiest night of the week! We have classes and community meetings each Thursday. Dinner is served, childcare is free, and resources (diapers, groceries, hygiene items) are distributed as available. It’s a great time and we look forward to it each week!

Short Term Volunteer Program in India
Volunteer Description: Short term or 2 weeks special volunteer program is especially suitable for volunteers who do not have time to commit for a month or more of volunteering abroad but would also like to make some contribution and also travel along with other volunteers on the weekends to one of the most spectacular places in northern India. Volunteering Solutions provide program placement in the capital city of Delhi. The city is a fusion of ancient and modern culture and is home to ancient monuments, magnificent museums and offers plenty of shopping opportunities for travelers.
