Metamorphosis: FREE Dance Concert

“Metamorphosis features ten diverse choreographic works by junior and senior BFA Dance majors and minors at Missouri State. The ten choreographers are Victoria Billington, Kristina Carter, Tashara Earl, Spencer Ernst, Madalyn Foley, Sarah Greenbaum, Melissa Huebner, Elizabeth Mach, Lauren Smith, and Kahrya Vaughn. Many of these students, as well as other Missouri State students, will perform these choreographic works.”

SAC Presents: Kevin Lyman, Creator of the Warped Tour

“Join Student Activities Council for a lecture from Kevin Lyman, creator of Warped Tour, Mayhem Festivals, and Country Throwdown.  This lecture will allow students to learn how their favorite artists make a living, and how the music industry promotes and distributes artists in a digital age, as well as get a road warrior’s first hand account of life on tour.Kevin Lyman is creator of a touring music and extreme sports festival called the Warped Tour, the Taste of Chaos, and the Mayhem tours. He also is a partner at SideOneDummy Records. He owns 4FINI which annually produces the above-mentioned tours as well as produced past tours such as the Down From the Mountain Tour, The Watcha Tour, andSprite Liquid Mix Tour. 4Fini is based out of Pasadena, California with 4 employees, to include Kevin. The operations manager for 4fini is Keri Lee, who worked in radio for many years. One of Kevin’s most recent success’ is the Coachella and Stagecoach Festival campgrounds. He was contracted by the promoter Goldenvoice to consult on the Campgrounds. In 2007 it was reported that campground attendance was in upwards of 17,000.”

Homecoming Fire in the Yard

7 PM-10 PM out on the North Mall

“Celebrate Homecoming with a fall classic: CHILI COOK OFF, MUSIC and A BONFIRE!

Student organizations will compete in a chili cook off.  Chili will be judged on taste, presentation, relation to the Homecoming theme, and overall appearance.”

Cover Your Ears is opening for Simple as Surgery

Tonight at 7 PM at the North Mall SAC Concerts presents this fantastic duo of bands to entertain everyone.

October 25

Homecoming Pep Rally and Yell Like Hell

6 PM – 8:30 PM at John Q. Hammons Student Center

“This Homecoming event features presentations by the PRIDE band, athletic teams and coaches, and others.  Following the pep rally will be the Yell Like Hell competition.  This features performances by student organizations that feature chanting and cheers showcasing pride for Missouri State University and the Bears.”

Swimming & Diving vs. Drury

5 PM – 8 PM at Hammons Student Center

The hometown rivalry between MSU and Drury is a dual meet that has been going on for many years. Please come out and support the Bears as they face off against the Panthers.

Homecoming Parade

9 AM – 10 AM at John Q. Hammons Parkway

“The Homecoming Parade features floats, decorated cars and walking entries and Homecoming Royalty candidates. This is a fun event for people of all ages!”

Union Update: Panda Express is still Processing Technical Difficulties

Hello everyone! The much anticipated Panda Express has their health inspection tomorrow and we’re anticipating an opening on Wednesday, keep your fingers crossed 🙂 . They had some technical difficulties with the display sign that held them back, but they should be working on Sushi and Entree training today and tomorrow. Make sure to stop by to get a possible taste test of what’s to come!

The Leadership and Volunteer Center is coming along very nicely, here is a photo of their progress as of this morning.

ATTENTION: If you are looking for Volunteer hours and a chance to get involved look no further! The Volunteer and Leadership Center are putting on the event Into the Streets!

“Into the Streets is an annual program offering hundreds of Missouri State University students the opportunity to go into the Springfield community and help out at local agencies, non-profits and other places of need.  Through this program, students will learn about a non-profit agency, find out ways to continue to be involved and help serve the community.”

The Volunteer Date is: September 29 and it’s going on all day! Today is the last day to sign up, you’re still welcome to show up and work it, but for more information contact Patrick Grayshaw for more information!

FITNESS
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN BEARFIT CLASSES! Classes are held 6 days a week. The cost is $2 per class (exact change) for a member and $3 per class for a non-member (in addition to the daily usage fee). Class options include: Low Impact Aqua Fitness, Cycling, Power Kick, Bear Strength, Power Hour, and TABATA to name a few. Unlimited passes are $35. Class schedules can be picked up in the FRC welcome center.

As a student, I understand that this time of the semester is very busy with midterms and tests but once you’re over the first trials, you’ll truly find a place to settle in, and if you’re still looking for opportunities to get involved them come by the PSU and meet tons of people, get connected and start connecting learning to life! The Missouri State Volleyball team will be traveling and playing 3 different teams from the NCAA this weekend in Oklahoma at the Oklahoma Nike Invitational! For more information click here.

The Missouri State Men’s Soccer Team will be facing the Belmont Bruins this Friday at 8:00 PM at Plaster Sports Complex Stadium so come out and root on the Bears at this Missouri Vs Nashville Face-Off!
