Happy Labor Day Weekend! For those of you traveling back home, drive safely. For those of you staying here, don’t worry, there are tons of things to do around town so put your rain boots on and go exploring in Downtown Springfield.
For the video gamers, instead of sitting in front of your TV all weekend, get your game on at 1984 Arcade on East Walnut Street. They charge $5.00 at the door for ‘all you can play,’ and are known for having the best variety of 80s arcade games. They also offer 25 cent pinball and have a snack bar.
For the movie buffs, visit one of the many theaters in Springfield. My personal favorites are The Palace (perfect for those of us who were recently cut off from our parent’s credit cards), Campbell Sixteen, and in keeping with the downtown theme: Hollywood Theaters College Station. Don’t forget to bring your student ID for a discount.
For the rest of you, try one of downtown Springfield’s prized restaurants. For a more historic setting, visit Taylor’s for an old-fashioned steak burger, Aunt Martha’s Pancake House for the best pancakes in town, or Ebbet’s Field for a burger named after your favorite baseball star. For a more relaxed and laid back setting, visit Aviary’s Creperie, Bambinos, or Nonna’s Italian Café.
Enjoy the rain this weekend and make sure you’re back for class on Tuesday!
