This weekend marks the start of a new month. It’s almost December, everyone. Which means Christmas and the end of the semester is right around the river bend. Don’t get too excited. There are some fun holiday-themed events going on around town this weekend.
Need to get some Christmas shopping started? Why not participate in Downtown for the Holidays on Friday night. You can enjoy a nice evening of shopping at unique shops and boutiques downtown. Find more information HERE.
Also, while you enjoying your shopping, make sure to drag a loved one around to enjoy a free carriage ride around Park Central Square. How fun!
There are also an array of shows taking place this weekend. Find information about the following shows here: AVENUE Q, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, AND SWEENEY TODD.
Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!
Happy Weekend Everyone! I hope you have had a splendid week. There is all kinds of fun holiday stuff going on this weekend and you should all go out and enjoy it!
The Festival of Lights is kicking off tomorrow with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony. This is the start of six weeks of holiday activities and while you may be thinking, ‘it’s too early to be starting Christmas stuff,” you, my friend, are wrong. Christmas is awesome! Also, that night there will be free ice skating at Mediacom Ice Park. More information is provided HERE.
And for those of you who like to consider yourself musicians or poets, The Park Central Library Branch is having an open mic night tonight at 7:00. Go and show off your incredible music talent or give a spoken word performance. More information HERE.
Enjoy your weekend and remember, only two days of class next week!
The weekend is finally here again.. I have a feeling that it’s going to be a chilly one. Regardless, lets talk about some stuff that’s happening off campus for those of you who aren’t going home.
Feeling an urge to get into the Christmas spirit? Wickmans Garden Village is hosting their 53rd annual Christmas Open House. Plus, it’s free. Free Christmas Spirit? Can’t beat that. They will have free popcorn, crafting, baking, and as many poinsettias as you can possibly imagine… so, around 8000. For dates and location, click HERE.
It’s parade season. Kicking it off is this years Veterans Day Parade. On November 10th, the Springfield Community will be celebrating our veterans downtown at 10AM.
Enjoy your weekend!

[singlepic id=110 w=107 h=80 float=left] For those of you who didn’t know, Springfield has a late-night talk show. It’s called The Mystery Hour and they have a live taping downtown on the second friday of every month. That’s today! The show features musical guests, comedians and 11 year old triathletes. That being said, you can go to one or both of the taping sessions for a VERY afforadable price. For more information, click HERE or HERE. If you can’t go tonight, there will be a second taping this month on September 28. The show airs on Saturday nights on local channel 27. [singlepic id=109 w=107 h=80 float=right]
