The English Department’s Creative Writing Program is accepting submissions for the annual MSU Student Fiction and Poetry Competitions. All currently enrolled MSU students, graduate and undergraduate, are eligible to enter either or both contests with a story and/or poem. Finalists will be selected by the MSU creative writing faculty and the winner in each genre will be chosen by distinguished writers Alexandra Teague (poetry) and Anne Valente (fiction).
Each winner will receive a $200 prize and their work will appear in the 2018 edition of Moon City Review.
To enter, please turn in your story and/or poem manuscript to the Department of English office (SICL 215) no later than noon on Friday, November 3rd. Manuscripts should be typed and anonymous, with no distinguishing marks left on the submission except the title. A separate cover sheet should be attached on top that includes your name, title of your work, and email address.
You may enter only one piece of fiction and one poem; if entering in each genre, please submit each piece separately. Entries cannot exceed 7,000 words and cannot have been previously published or contracted for future publication. Finalists and winners will be announced near the semester’s end.
