The College of Arts and Letters (COAL) is offering students the opportunity to Study Away in the United Arab Emirates this fall. This trip will expose students to a culture and environment very different from Springfield, MO. Trip objectives include:
- Discovering and investigating the culture, communication practices, and culture of the Middle East, specifically United Arab Emirates (UAE)
- Exploring the dominant religion of the area, Islam
- Understanding the higher education initiatives of the UAE
- Discussing UAE’s reach for modernity while trying to retain its tradition and culture
The course is designed to increase appreciation and respect for Arab people and culture.
