Faculty Writing Retreats
The Faculty Writing Retreat is back! The retreat is led by Provost’s Faculty Writing Fellow Dr. Jonathan Newman and will help you meet your writing goals for the year. Attending these retreats you can begin new articles, revise and resubmit, polish your book proposal, complete your last edits, and connect and collaborate with other faculty scholars.

Crafting instructional videos with Camtasia: Best practices make for better content
Facilitator: Eric Taylor
Are you interested in learning how to use Camtasia to create instructional videos? Join Eric Taylor with the FCTL where he will share best practices and strategies for crafting high-production value content. This session will include editing, mastering and project management, and exploring the different ways faculty are using Camtasia to enhance pedagogy.

It’s back, it’s live, and it’s had a bit of a makeover!
Interested in student-centered teaching and active learning practices? If you are, plan to join us for the Course Development Boot Camp. The boot camp is an intensive four-day workshop focused on course development integrating student-centered and active learning instructional strategies. Regardless of whether you are teaching a traditional seated, hybrid, or online course the Course Development Boot Camp can help you:
- Identify characteristics and learning needs of adult students.
- Develop course-level objectives and that are in alignment with assessments.
- Develop student-centered, active learning instructional strategies to engage learners and support the learning process.
- Identify and implement strategies for developing metacognitive practices in learners.
- Leverage available technologies to support engagement, student learning, and accessibility.

There will be a total of four sessions for the fall boot camp:

Each session is 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and lunch will be provided.

Join a cross-disciplinary group of faculty and engage in an active, collaborative, semester-long program about enhancing teaching and learning. FLCs are teams of eight to 10 faculty members who will engage in frequent seminars and activities that provide learning, development, and community building. Through participation in their community, faculty will build a product or plan in support of enhancing teaching and learning. FLC’s are facilitated by FCTL Faculty Fellows or staff and usually meet five times during the semester for a total of 10 contact hours. Members who successfully complete goals and objectives set by their community will be eligible for a $500 mini grant to extend their learning and implement their chosen project.

The resources from the FCTL’s virtual online boot camps are available as a Self-paced Course Development Boot Camp. This self-paced version will cover many of the same things as the virtual and on-campus boot camps, but you will be participating at your own schedule and can contact the FCTL Instructional Designers at any time during this process. Their contact information is listed in the meet your instructional designers area of the modules.
