Update 10/12/2016:
Intersection will be open to traffic October 14-16, however, due to tight work in the area, right turns will not be allowed off of Cherry onto Kimbrough, and sidewalks will remain closed to pedestrian traffic.
The east leg of Kimbrough Ave and Cherry Street has been temporarily closed by the City of Springfield for construction of a box culvert across Cherry Street. A soft closure, which are barricades that can be driven around, have been placed across Cherry Street just west of Holland Street. This still allows access to the parking lots at the Professional Building and Child Development Center but restricts traffic into the worksite. Sidewalks have been closed along Cherry Street in front of the Professional Building and the McQueary Family Health Sciences Hall. The Mid Block Pedestrian Crossing on Cherry Street is still open to foot traffic. The intersection will be open to traffic October 14-16 & 28-31. The intersection will be a two way stop on the Cherry Street approaches until the signals have been replaced. Expected completion date is December 7th.
