Please be advised that City Utilities of Springfield is continuing work to replace the water main that runs along Holland Avenue from Grand Street to Cherry Street. Rain last week delayed a some work so a portion of the work that was planned for last week will occur this week instead. During the week of August 27 – September 2 City Utilities expects to be performing the following work along Holland Avenue:
- Beginning Tuesday, work will occur on the south side of Bear Boulevard east of Holland Avenue. As with the other locations City Utilities expects traffic to be able to pass but cars may have to take turns. The sidewalk on the south side of Bear Boulevard will be closed at this location. This work will likely impact Bear Line shuttle service. Watch for notifications from Safety & Transportation regarding changes in shuttle service in this area.
- Throughout the week crews will be working at various locations along Bear Boulevard to complete backfill for excavations that were made earlier in the project. This work will impact traffic on Holland Avenue and may cause sidewalks along the east side of Holland Avenue to be closed at various locations.
Please note that weather or unforeseen conditions may cause delays in this work, requiring changes in the schedule. Updated information regarding the Holland Avenue water main renewal project will be posted weekly as the project progresses.
